LOCAL NEWS - Eight Local Newscasts daily at 5:45, 6:45, 7:45 & 8:45am, 12:30, 4:00, 5:00 and 11:05pm. Timely, accurate reporting of events that pertain to our North Country Community. If it happens here WIRY is there! Twenty times daily NBC Radio News reports on the National News, at the top of each hour. We’re proud to be your Information Station.
Birthdays & Anniversaries – Everyday at 6:20, 7:20 & 8:20am with daily drawings for a number of gifts, from Birthday Cakes to Balloons, listeners days are made special.
Lost & Found – Live, three times per day, seven days a week at 9:05am, 1:05 & 5:45pm listeners call us at 563-1340 and tell us the items they’ve lost or found. We also find homes for adoptable animals.
Local Weather Forecasts – weather changes and Hometown Radio WIRY features the latest weather forecasts every 15 minutes, from the National Weather Service. Reporting on snowstorms, icy roads, ice storms or earthquakes, we take our weather very seriously. Weather on the 15, to keep our listeners informed.
Local Sports Shows – Ducky on Sports, Monday-Friday mornings at 6:30, 7:30 & 8:30 as well as 5:30pm, we take a look at not only Local Sports but also Sports on the National Scene.
WIRY is an Associated Press affiliate. AP keeps us up to date not only on breaking sports but the latest news.
Behind the Bench – A seasonal live call-in program during the Plattsburgh State Hockey Season with Head Coach Bob Emery. The coach answers calls from listeners every Monday evening from 6:30-7:00pm, as well as discusses the previous games and looks ahead at upcoming Cardinal games.
National Sports – Major League Baseball. Hometown Radio WIRY is a New York Yankee broadcast affiliate, broadcasting every Yankee baseball game, from spring training to the conclusion of their season.
National Football League – New York Giant Football can be heard all season long from pre-season games right on through the full 16 game schedule, and into the playoffs.
Local Sports Coverage – Hometown Radio WIRY has carried High School Sporting events in the Champlain Valley for over 40 years. We carry a 20 game High School Football Schedule of the Northern Athletic Conference including Section VII AND X. During the winter months we split our local High School coverage between Basketball & Hockey. We’ve also broadcast selected High School boys & girls Soccer in the region as well as Little League Baseball.
Ski Reports – seasonal with the latest up the minute conditions from Sno Country Mountain Reports, the largest reporting service in the Northeast reporting Ski conditions for New York, Vermont & New Hampshire.
Look Who’s Hiring – a program, aired Monday-Friday at 10:20am, 12:20 & 6:20pm which runs down area job listings from Advertisers of the program.
What’s for Lunch – a program, aired Monday-Friday at 10:30am, reviews Luncheon Specials from advertisers on the program, giving listeners an opportunity to find out where they want to go for lunch without running around town, or going to another restaurant when their favorite dish is being served at another eatery.
Hometown Radio WIRY Sports Quiz – heard every week day morning at 11:30, we test listeners sports knowledge on a wide variety of topics, while giving them a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to Goldie's Grocery
Pet Tales – a three-minute program heard Monday-Fridays at 3:30pm that covers a complete spectrum of pets. Of course we talk about dogs, cats and birds and fish, but we also check out tarantulas and flying squirrels and hedgehogs. Great stories of what pets have done for their owners, from Arachnids to Zebras; it’s Pet Tales to the Rescue.
David Letterman’s Top 10 List – Monday-Friday at 8:30am, listeners can hear the previous nights Top 10 List from the Emmy Award winning David Letterman Show on CBS T-V.
Character Counts – Heard Monday-Friday following the 12:30 WIRY Local News, Character Counts, hosted by Michael Josephson, focus on people doing things the right way, building the proper character in their everyday lives. The program is always a very uplifting two minutes and causes listeners to reflect on their lives.
When Radio Was – remember the old-time radio programs many of us grew up with? They’re back five nights a week on Hometown Radio. All the old time classics including Superman, The Shadow, Jack Benny, Sergeant Preston of the Yukon, Gunsmoke, Burns & Allen, The Lone Ranger, Abbott & Costello, Dragnet & The Red Skelton Show just to name a few. When Radio Was airs at 10:05pm Monday-Fridays. Another complete different program airs Tuesday through Saturday mornings at 4:05. When Radio Was is radio the way it used to be.

News Live at 12:30 – we call this our Noontime Lunch Break. We can broadcast LIVE our 12:30pm Local News, from area restaurants, Monday-Fridays.
Open Line Programs – from putting local politicians on the Hot seat, to inviting the Director of the United Way or a representative from Cornell cooperative Extension to talk about plants, many timely topics pop up on our open line programs.
Hometown Radio WIRY features a Web Site, wiry.com. And is proud to be one of a small few radio stations that stream our audio.
Video Viewer- a daily program that airs at 11:45am that reviews the latest up to the minute Motion Pictures, just released on video.
Hometown Radio WIRY plays a careful music rotation of New Country, Adult Contemporary and enough Oldies sprinkled in to cause listeners from all over the country to call or e-mail, telling us how much they enjoy our music.
Classic Country takes center stage from 10:00 till Noon every Saturday morning hosted by Jim Ed Brown and listeners will also notice some of this Real Country as well from time to time during the day.
Sunday of Solid Gold – Starts at 6am with veteran personality Charlie Stone. Each Sunday we may feature a look back at that week in Music History 40 years ago, 30 years ago, 20 years ago. We also will feature the Big Bands one week and during a five-week month, one entire Sunday morning is devoted to nothing but Classic Country.
Oldies continue during the weekend with syndicated music shows including;
The Beatle Years – each Sunday Night from 6:00-7:00pm. We look back on the Fab 4 and share with listeners interesting stories as well as playing many of the great songs from the great band of all time.
Jeff Foxworthy's Top 30 Country Countdown- Each Sunday night from 7-11pm Jeff counts down the top 30 Country hits in America. The program also features interviews with many of the stars as well as appearances by Larry The Cable Guy and others
WIRY'S 8 at 8- Each weekday evening we select a particular week in history and countdown the top 8 songs of that week, starting at 8pm.
